The 3 things you SHOULD know about a Misfuel!

Motorboat Fuel Drains

If perhaps there is the wrong fuel, or contaminated fuel (most usually water contaminated or degraded fuel) in a boat we can certainly help remove it. Provided that the boat is either dry-docked, or situated near to a car parking bay we can reach the storage and remove the contaminated fuel. We've done quite a few fuel drains at piers and boatyards nationwide.

AdBlue Contamination

In East Sussex we are discovering increasingly more cases of AdBlue contamination whereby an individual has poured AdBlue into their diesel fuel tank. This is mainly a result of drivers not understanding the right way to use it (pay attention: it's in truth not a fuel additive), and partly simply because the inlets for diesel and AdBlue are frequently directly adjacent to each other on the car.

Well, what exactly is the issue with putting AdBlue in the diesel vehicle?

Seeing that the product is predominantly ionised water, it is actually as bad as putting water in your tank. Diesel and water don't blend in the slightest and trying to run a diesel car on water cannot work. Apart from this, the urea is quite corrosive to the fuel system lines and seals and is susceptible to crystalising, blocking injectors and filters. If you find you poured AdBlue into your fuel tank drain it as soon as possible. And certainly don't start up the vehicle - not even to relocate it to a parking place. In the instance that you did start the car you would in all likelihood need to have the entire fuel system purged and filters changed.

Contact us if you are a casualty of AdBlue contamination. We can certainly help. We are Specialists in dealing with contaminated fuel and will take care of all types of AdBlue contamination.

    • Loss of engine power – can feel like the car has run out of fuel
    • A lot of smoke (more than usual)
    • Engine coughing or starting to splutter
    • Won’t start – or keeps stalling.
